The newly constructed ‘Laksanda Sewana' housing scheme in Salamulla, Kolonnawa, was declared open by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Under the Government's resettlement programme for underserved communities, legal documents to the houses were handed over to the beneficiaries by President Rajapaksa. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary - Ministry of Defence and Urban Development and Nimal Perera, Chairman - Urban Development Authority were also present on this occasion.
The housing scheme comprising 216 housing units has a living area, two bedrooms, pantry and a balcony including sanitary facilities costing over eight million rupees. Elevators, spacious parking facilities, community halls and public convenience places are some of the other facilities. Measures are underway to develop the adjacent road network to create easy access to the housing scheme.
